Public sector organisations suffer all the same pressures as commercial organisations - plus some more. They have to meet the needs of their beneficiaries, keep elected members informed, communicate with partner organisations and keep funding bodies updated. Each audience has its own language and its own culture and each has to be addressed in its own way. Some will be looking for 'benefits', others for 'results' and yet others for 'outcomes'.
Then, of course, there are the financial pressures. Money is tight.
I have written copy for public sector and not-for-profit organisations ranging from Birmingham City Council to Walsall Metropolitan Borough, from New Deal projects to the Health Service to copy on Diversity for Northampton College.
This has included everything from copywriting brochures to new project launches, from case studies to annual reviews, video clips, websites, PowerPoint presentations, radio interviews to newspaper articles and press releases.
"Getting the tone of voice right was very important as we were dealing with sensitive issues around diversity and didn’t want to appear patronising. Len helped us to pitch it in the correct way and generated some highly readable and accessible copy."

"We like your proactive approach. Much more than just copywriting. And you
work well within the public sector environment."
