Website Copy that's read by humans and by search engines
After the excitement of seeing the draft website design, there follows a hiatus - it can take forever to write the damned copy! That's even more exasperating for the website designer. A simple solution is at hand. Let me do it. In no time at all, copy written, copy right! Copywriting Services for Website Design Agencies 95% complete but still waiting for the client to deliver copy? Let me deliver - cracking copy for the client and quick completion for you. Everyone wins. Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) If you want search engines to find your site, it is important to weave key 'search strings' into the copy. That is a real balancing act, writing copy that is search engine friendly and that also reads well for mere humans. SimplySwitch recently asked me to research and write copy for a very complex site - many thousands of words, all optimised for search engines. Copy was delivered within the week. Two SEO secrets that most copywriters won’t tell you 1. Selecting the right search termsBefore writing copy, your copywriter should check that you really are using the right search terms. For example, let’s suppose you are a wedding planner: Last month, 91 people in the UK used the search term ‘professional wedding planner’, whereas, 260 used the term ‘Professional wedding planners’. Adding an ‘s’ to the term increases the number of potential visitors by 250%! Some 90,500 people in the UK used the search ‘wedding planner’ last month, but just 33,100 used the term ‘wedding planners’. Simply dropping the letter ‘s’ adds a further 60,000 potential visitors per month! I always do some basic SEO research for you, checking that we really are using the most productive search terms when writing your copy, letting you know exactly how many times last month the search term was used within your selected country(ies), such as UK, USA etc. 2. Off-page words are much more important than the copy that goes on-page!Most copywriters will claim to specialise in Search Engine Friendly copy. Actually, that’s the easy bit for them. What very few provide is the even more important off-page copy. Google doesn’t just read what’s on-page – it looks behind the page. That’s why, when I write website copy for clients, I also write optimised copy for the page title ‘tags’, the description tags, the H1, H2 copy etc., right down to a recommended URL. Confused? Don’t worry, it will all mean something to your website designer. They will be thrilled to have, for once, a professional brief for each page of your site. If you don't have a website developer, I can do it for you. That’s why my clients have websites that are loved by Google as well as by the humans.
